Woodstone pizza,
driven over to Amersham

We are not an Amersham shop. We are a woodstone oven on Broad Street in Chesham, about ten minutes up the hill, and we have been sending pizza down the A416 since 2014.

Where in Amersham we deliver

Amersham is really two places, and the drive is different to each. Old Amersham sits down in the Misbourne valley on the A413; Amersham-on-the-Hill is up by the station. We reach both, plus the villages either side of the road between us.

Amersham-on-the-Hill

HP6, around the Metropolitan and Chiltern line station, Sycamore Road and Hill Avenue. The straightest run from Broad Street — down White Hill and along the A416.

Old Amersham

HP7, the High Street, the Market Hall and the roads off toward Shardeloes. A few minutes further on than the Hill, so a Friday evening order is worth placing a little earlier.

Chesham Bois

HP6, and the closest of all of these to the oven — the A416 runs through it. Bois Lane, North Road and the commons either side.

Little Chalfont

HP7 and HP8, out past Amersham on the Chalfont road. The far edge of what we cover, so check your postcode at checkout before you plan dinner around it.

Amersham Common & Coleshill

The lanes south and west of the town. Covered, but rural postcodes are exactly where a delivery radius stops being a circle — the checkout will tell you in a second.

Not sure?

Put your postcode into the order page. It reads the same delivery zones the shop uses, so the answer it gives is the real one — not a list on a website that nobody has updated since 2019.

What it costs, and how long it takes

Delivery to Amersham falls in our outer zone, because it is a real drive rather than a walk down Broad Street. Here is the whole of it, with nothing hidden until checkout.

If you are coming past Chesham anyway, collection is quicker and cheaper — there is a standing deal on any pizza collected from the shop. The oven is on Broad Street, five minutes from Chesham station.

Why order pizza from the next town over

Fair question. The answer is the oven, and it is not a small difference.

Most takeaway pizza is baked on a conveyor at around 250°C for eight or nine minutes. Ours goes onto a stone floor at roughly 400°C and is out in under three. At that heat the base sets and crisps before the moisture in the topping can soak into it, the rim puffs instead of drying, and you get the char blisters along the crust that no conveyor can produce.

That is a bake you cannot get from a chain in Amersham, and it survives a ten-minute drive far better than a pizza that was soft when it left. The dough is hand-stretched the same morning. The tomatoes are San Marzano. Nothing goes in the oven until you have ordered it.

What Amersham tends to order

The full menu — pizzas, calzones, the vegan range, sides and desserts — lives on the main page. These are the ones that go over the hill most.

Margherita

San Marzano tomato, Fior de latte, fresh basil. The one that tells you whether a pizzeria knows what it is doing.

See it on the menu

Diavola

Spicy Neapolitan salami and red chillies, with a lick of chilli oil over the top.

The vegan range

Dairy-free mozzarella on the same hand-stretched dough, off the same 400°C stone floor.

Amersham questions

Do you actually deliver to Amersham, or just to the edge of it?

Properly. Amersham-on-the-Hill, Old Amersham, Chesham Bois and Little Chalfont are all inside the delivery area, along with Amersham Common. Little Chalfont and the rural lanes are the outer edge, so confirm your postcode at checkout.

How long does it take to get to Amersham?

About 45 minutes to your door on a normal evening. Friday and Saturday between 7pm and 9pm are the busiest hours in the kitchen, so order a little earlier if you are feeding people at a set time.

Does it arrive cold after a drive from Chesham?

It arrives hot. A woodstone bake holds up far better over a short drive than a conveyor-baked pizza does, because the base crisped rather than steamed. It is around three miles.

What is the minimum order to Amersham?

£19, with a £2.50 delivery charge. Collection from the Chesham shop has no minimum and no charge.

Is there a gluten-free base?

Most pizzas can be made on a gluten-free base for a small supplement. The same oven and preparation bench are used for every pizza, so we cannot promise a coeliac-safe environment.

Can I collect instead?

Yes, and it is quicker — about 15 minutes. We are at 50 Broad Street, Chesham HP5 3DX, and there is a standing deal on any pizza collected from the shop.

Opening hours

Last orders are about 30 minutes before we close. The line at the top of this page says whether the kitchen is open right now.
